So many ideas never come to fruition, as they never receive the nurturing or fertilizer required to bloom. This was not the case with the Mainland HO! Tour.

The tour kick-off at Solstice Café in Victoria will remain in my mind for a long time. The crowd participation and support throughout the show was very humbling. Thanks to Adam at Victoria Music Scene for coming out and documenting the evening.

We had a fairly quiet show in Vancouver the next day, followed by an intimate showcase at Renaissance Books in New Westminster. It was the first concert that the bookstore had hosted, but I can promise it will not be the last! Thanks to Amy for making this happen!

Off to Fraser Valley we sailed for two cozy shows.  First we stopped by Tractor Grease Studios in Chilliwack, then Champion Jacks in Abbotsford. Thanks to Jeff and Jason for making us feel at home. It was great to share our music in your respected spaces.

Thank you to West My Friend for greeting me with open arms, and to everyone who came to a show, told a friend about a show, or hosted us. It would not be the same without you. I hope to see your smiling faces soon.

West My Friend:
Since West My Friend was conceived in a Victoria café in 2009, they’ve emerged as a unique voice in the city’s music scene. Their diversity in taste and influences, and a keen interest in both traditional sounds and innovation, creates a need to constantly explore new sounds while placing them as a distinctive voice in the landscape between Canadian folk and indie-pop. This sonically adventurous approach to music defines West My Friend as a key part of a growing movement of the new generation of grass-roots folk music taking place in Victoria, Vancouver and across British Columbia. www.westmyfriend.com/

Brett Wildeman:
Heavily influenced by his coastal upbringing, Brett Wildeman’s sprawling lyrics coupled with a unique vocal delivery are staples of his ‘raw folk’ sound.  During the spring of 2012, Wildeman embarked on a three-week soul searching cycling adventure where he explored the intricacies of coastal America. Leaving the amenities of the 21st Century behind, he packed his bike with two sets of clothes, camping gear, a sketchbook, and a ukulele.  The introspective two-wheeled journey of the Sunshine Coast-based singer-song writer is encapsulated in his forthcoming album ‘mother | earth’, which is to be released later this year. http://www.brettwildeman.com/
